Romance is in the air again….

June 2, 2010

I do love a good wedding, but now all my friends are married the nearest I get is the wedding cake. We make all shapes and sizes this was one we did last week which was a bit unusual but looked really great, ( it was also pure chocolate)!

Transatlantic brownies

May 18, 2010

Our brownies know no bounds – they are off on a single-handed transatlantic trip on a home-made 21ft catamaran in the jester Challenge 2010. Sound mad? well it is….
Our chum Rory is sailing his catamaran from Plymouth to Rhode Island setting off on Sunday, and to help him keep his energy and spirits high we have loaded him with goodies.
Rory is raising money in this incredible way for the Sir Francis Chichester Trust which helps under privileged youngsters find their way.
Take a look at his progress, wish him well, even better sponsor him for any amount of money you can spare in these tricky times.

Delivery Hero!

February 4, 2010

They get a pretty bad wrap don’ they? Couriers I mean. Before starting the business I was amongst the throngs that said ba humbug to the driver who didn’t arrive, the card that wasn’t left, the van that ran over the lawn edge, and so it goes on.
Well I’m thoroughly reformed.
No matter what the weather, no matter how many deliveries or pick ups our driver has to do in a day(a very long day!) Paul gets to us and still has a spare smile. In the snow he battled through our tiny lane, in the summer he takes care to keep our parcels cool. He re arranges his van to keep our parcels upright, and generally goes to great lengths for us!
So we just want to say a huge thank you for being our delivery hero!

January!

January 19, 2010

It’s suprising how low January can make us feel. Cold, dark, broke, a little too tight in those jeans, and the final straw… those virtuous people who stop drinking alcohol in January! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great idea and I’m sure I should folllow suite, but my chances of getting through the month without some cheery libation with dinner are frankly remote. The only good thing about it, is that it seems to almost have overtaken those people who used say terrible things like ‘I’m not going to eat chocolate or cake for a month…’ I mean that really is the limit!

Anyway to those of you who suffer from January like me here’s a cure – go and have a good laugh at something. My hubby and I took ourselves off to see Billy Connolly last week and we had 2 hours of laughter. Even he hadn’t been funny we would have laughed at the sound of everyone else’s belly laughs all around us. What a lucky man Billy is to have spent a lifetime having that effect on perfect strangers. We felt quite light headed for some time!

But you don’t have to go and see someone in a theatre, just wait until the 25th January and go and see a friend who said on the 1st I’m giving up alcohol this month, they’ll be in such a state – you have to laugh!

The moral of this tale must be, spread happiness!

Labrador Blues

September 10, 2009

Well it’s been a while since we blogged mainly due to our Christmas cake schedule! Now we are really getting into the Christmas mood as we are making all our lovely Christmas Hat Boxes. If any of you are Biggie Best fabric fans you’ll be in for a treat as we are using his fabrics this year which are really special.
We’ve just come back from the Speciality and Fine Food Fair in London, and hopefully we will be able to tell you soon of stockists this year which will make shopping easy for all.
Sam my beloved dog is already giving me those sideways looks he does each year when I don’t give him as much time as he would like, he will be giving me the total cold shoulder by the end of October, so I have made a vow this year to devote alot of labrador loving time into my day!
